These come from my digitally-inspired visual communication theory that it's easier to guide the audience with a representative graphic, than it is to wrangle with the "mind-reading" issues of connotative and denotative meanings.
There is no question that the people in the sample graphic are dancing with each other. There is no argument about what "dancing" means in the context.
Any argument is with the graphic style or perhaps with the skill and grace of the characters, but the arguments must revolve around the central guided meaning of the word, dancing.
Generic figures in action -- with heads that suggest people in general or individuals, depending on who is looking.
